The contours of the indexer input cams are all composed of complex spatial surfaces. Calculating the spatial coordinates of the contour according to the motion law of the output turret is a complicated task. In addition, from the manufacturing point of view, it is usually not necessary to process the coordinates of the space surface. Therefore, in conventional space cam designs, an approximation method is often employed. For example, the cylindrical surface of the cylindrical cam is expanded into a rectangular plane. The conical surface of the conical cam is expanded into a fan-shaped plane, and then the contour curve of the plane cam is calculated according to the contour curve design method of the plane cam.
For the arc cam mechanism of the two vertical interleaved indexing drive, in the case of the intermittent motion, the input cam of the indexer is a circular arc-shaped rotating body with a contoured ridge, which is mounted on the turntable of the output turret. Several needle bearings are evenly distributed along the peripheral direction. When the cam rotates, the index of the indexing section pushes the needle, and then drives the dial to index the index; when the cam is turned into the range of the angle of repose, the two rollers on the turntable are sandwiched by the torus of the cam. On the ridge, the turntable stops rotating, and the self-locking function of the indexer is realized.
It can be seen from the motion state of the indexer that the positioning curve is located at the center of the cam, which is suitable for occasions with high speed, light load and fewer rollers; if the positioning curve is located at both ends of the cam, it is suitable for the number of rollers.
